Superman/Batman #83: Written by CULLEN BUNN; Art by CHRISCROSS and MARC DEERING
Part 3 of the "Sorcerer Kings" storyline picks up with our Clark in the future while our Bruce tries to stop the world from being altered by magic in the present. Future!Bruce turns out to be pretty hot (nice art!):
So in the future, Clark has lost his powers, BUT the altered sun gives him different powers, like the ability to turn undead with a magical sword. He and Bruce on the Batwing head to the Hall of Doom, now comandeered by the League as a headquarters of the resistance.
Bruce introduces him to the magic League, including Klarion the Warlock, who apparently is responsible for sending future!Clark back to the present (and his death).
Bruce and the League discuss the situation, including this line:
Which could be referring to any number of past plots, but I like to think is a reference to "Absolute Power," when Saturn Queen kidnapped Clark and Bruce as kids as raised them to rule the world.
Clark has been asking about Lois and Bruce has been dodging, but finally has to admit to Clark that she died (thus Clark's desperation to change the past):
As it turns out, the coven took control in our "present" by sending a demon back from this future. So Batman is planning on disrupting that spell here in the future, so they never change the past.
The issue ends with a great line by Bruce:
Oh, I am such a sucker for "changing the world" sorts of plots. The last issue of the storyline comes out tomorrow!
