I'm so looking forward to seeing what happens when Clark realizes what the truth actually is - and what he does with it when that happens. ...and what happens when Bruce understands that Clark is Superman, too. hehehe! :)
"She was...my hope for a better life. A happy life. She was going to...save me."
Aw.. poor Bruce. No she wasn't. She would have broken your heart, actually. :( But I think I know someone who can save you though - it's kind of what he does everyday...save people. ;) lol!
I really like how you've brought in the canon from TDK and SR - you're doing such a great job at merging both together in this. Love it! :)

I knowwww, it's really hard to keep the tension going, because I just want to squish them together somehow!

He's very good at it! Trust him, Bruce!
The TDK canon is so slippery and hard to deal with, somehow! I'm really glad your prompt finally gave me a way into it, so to speak...

All of them are just...
"He should have been strong enough, smart enough, to save her," Wayne said, his mouth twisting. "And then, as if that weren't enough of a betrayal of his city, he killed off Harvey Dent as well."
Bruce, Bruce.
"Oh come now, Mr. Kent. Superman is more than human, after all: above our petty desires and sordid needs."
Against his will, Clark remembered his desperate need for Lois, his willingness to throw away his heritage, his responsibility, to have her. His shamed flight in the aftermath of his failure. "No one is that untouchable, Mr. Wayne."
Clark D:
The alien face was expressionless, perfect, flawlessly just. Nothing in the angles of that face would ever be interested in the murky web of lies and half-truths that Jim had spun to cover Gotham, to veil it in protective darkness. This is so creepy. I love how it looks nothing like Superman as I know and understand him (except when they're doing the split-bodied pure Kryptonian logic thing). Looking at this, you can almost see why Lex would ( ... )

I do feel Routh's Superman has that kind of...classic, untouchable perfection in his portrayal of Clark. It's part of what's a little off-putting about the movie, although I do think it's meant to hide a very conflicted human. But that Superman in a post-TDK Gotham...it's volatile.
These two obviously aren't those two, but the way you're writing their secretive camaraderie, I can see how they could easily get there.
Oh, I'm so glad you think so! Yes, that scene in NML, GOD. *wibbles* These two are so much closer to friends right from the beginning that I could easily see them getting to that point...
Now I really want Clark to figure it out and to maybe convince Bruce that white ( ... )

You know I had to go reread the first chapter to remind myself weither Bruce knew Clark was Superman or not here.
I love *love* the comparaison between Superman and Harvey as the good perfect heroes. And it is sooooo true, they are the paragons of virtue and incoromptibability while Batman is more the bogeyman that for some reason does good sometimes in the mind of the people.
I can't wait to see how Bruce is going to show Gotham to Clark.

I'm really hoping so! Large chunks of the whole thing are written but need to be whipped into shape, but it's a very enjoyable task. :)

It really complicates this story (in interesting ways) to have Bruce think of Harvey and Superman as similar sorts of people! Especially when part of Bruce knows full well that Harvey is...not really to be emulated at all.
I can't wait to see how Bruce is going to show Gotham to Clark.Oh God, this version of Bruce, he kills me with how much he loves Gotham. I mean, the comics version does even more in some ways, but there are so many heroes in Gotham that love it too, so that emotion is more communal and less intensely personal the way it is with movieverse Bruce ( ... )
