Yuletide authors are revealed! I ended up writing three stories. I was assigned a super-obscure, tiny fandom for a fantasy trilogy called "Time Master" by Louise Cooper, and wrote "
Perfection," which is a story of Cyllan's first day in the Realm of Chaos. But it was short and I wasn't perfectly happy with it, plus there was a fandom on my recipient's prompt list that
spix_in_lj had recommended to me but I'd never gotten to, a manga called "Pet Shop of Horrors." I decided, what the heck, found and read the manga, and wrote "
Deserving," in which Leon and Count D are reunited. It turned out longer than the original prompt and I liked it better, so I was glad I did it!
Then, just as I was about to get on my intercontinental flight, I saw a pinch hit for the Heian period of Japanese history, asking for a team-up between Sei Shonagon (author of The Pillow Book) and Murasaki Shikibu (author of Tale of Genji), two famous court rivals. It had gotten picked up by a different person, but the mod said that with super-last minute pinch hits it was okay to have more than one person grab the prompt, so on the spur of the moment I decided to give it a try. Downloaded a few excerpts from The Pillow Book at the airport and wrote "
On the Moonlit Road of Dreams" on the plane in one burst. It ended up with some historical inaccuracies in it, but I had so much fun with the tone and time that I'm not too chagrined. :)
In short, I had a wonderful Yuletide!
Also, OMG, there has been a glut of fantastic Clark/Bruce stories at
worlds_finest for the Gift Exchange! I just spent all this morning reading and chortling, and I'm far from caught up. Excellent work, everyone!
