First! ;)

With the bleak desert landscape it would have looked almost comical--a black-clad coyote lying in wait for a bright roadrunner--if it hadn’t been a person with unknown tech preparing to ambush her cousin.

*laughs*

Great scene between Kara and Bruce.

Always the evaluator, eh, Bruce? Important for your line of work, but sometimes just give it a rest, huh?

Very good scene between Bruce and Clark. Poor Clark's grieving really got to the Dark Knight. I like the way they're walking out of the desert together, and planning on that world trip. :)

It's always the seeking.

Great scene between Kara and Bruce.

I was happy to get a chance to write Kara again! I always love her take on the two of them...

Mmmm, Clark and Bruce on a world tour is such an awesome idea! I love that Selina is going with him in canon, but still. :)

I loved this. I'm really hoping we get a good reunion scene between these two in the comics, and I really loved the way you wrote Kara. But then, you know I'm a sucker for the girls. ;)

A great little snapshot of an important moment in their lives. :)

I was happy to have a chance to write Kara! She doesn't take either Clark or Bruce TOO seriously but she cares about them very much, which is a really fun POV to use. :) I'm glad you liked her here, I consider that the stamp of approval from an expert!

Aw, thanks! I love patching up canon a bit and seeing if I can get a few sparks to fly. :)

I. LOVE. THIS.

To be honest, I haven't been following canon very closely, and have only a vague idea of what's been happening (New Krypton going KAPLOOEY, Clark's Walking Tour of America, Kara repressing her grief, Bruce being stuck in time, etc.), but the beauty of your story here is that you don't need to know all the details, just the emotions.

They were locked together now in a sharp exchange of strikes and kicks, the sound of hands and feet striking flesh loud in the desert silence.

BOYS! Lol, why can't they act like civilized men and just makeout already?

and then he saw the tears on Clark’s face.

Ahhh, I have such a weakness for WOOBIE CLARK. When he cries, I cry. Bruce, stop making Clark cry!

“They all died,” Clark said hoarsely, still not looking at him. “And I thought--when I saw them dying, I thought--If Bruce were here, we could stop this. We always could do anything together. But you weren’t there.” There was no reproach in his voice, only grief.I think this part hit me the hardest. You have so much written between ( ... )

I'm so glad to hear that! I always worry that my stories based in canon are opaque to people not following canon, and I definitely wouldn't want that.

It kills me when Clark cries, either in canon or fic! It always seems a sure sign that something is really, truly wrenching, because he's not usually a weepy sort...

On a side note, HAVE Clark and Bruce been reunited yet in canon? (I feel like I would have heard something if they had...) *pulls hair* Their canons are all cockeyed right now, and I can't figure out how they match up! In his own title, Clark comes back from New Krypton and almost immediately sets off to walk across ( ... )

Holy Jesus! *joins you in the pulling out of hair*

I have to say, the slashy shipper in me thinks that there is something terribly romantic about Clark "glimpsing Bruce at the End of Time." LOL

Meanwhile, Bruce has come back and--in a title coming out this week!--confronts the Justice League (I assume without Clark, since Clark is WANDERING AROUND THE TIME STREAM AT RANDOM LOOKING FOR BRUCE AUGH) and gets his memory back.

AAAAAAAARGH. It's like one of those frustrating movies were two people keep just missing each other!!!!

Until then, we'll have to do it ourselves.

Seriously. If we want something done right...

Thank God for fic! :D

It is a surprisingly slashy moment! You can see some scans of it here and...hey, why haven't I friended you yet? *promptly does so* Anyway, it's definitely got a slashy vibe to it to me (not that I've ever been slow to see such a vibe), just in the level of Clark's despair there...

ETA: Wait, that's 1 (although that's also not bad!) The scans at the End of Time are here!

This is a wonderful story! I love how they reunited. I have to admit I didn't read Vanishing Point though. Well, I read one or two issues and then stop reading it.
Is it important to the whole Bruce Wayne-Return Epic thing? If so, I'll have to go and read them.

Anyway, I wish DC has similar scene like this. Sometimes they just don't give what the boys deserve. Thank you for sharing this with us,hon. It brighten up my day. :)

Heh, I don't blame you at all! No, unless something really dramatic happens in the last two issues, it looks like Time Masters: Vanishing Point was basically Jurgens saying "Hey, I'd love to write some funky time-travel adventures with these characters," because they hardly even mention Bruce at all. Like, once an issue Clark says "What are we doing here? We should be looking for Bruce!" which is nice, but then they...don't go looking for Bruce, they just fight sorceresses or whatever they're dealing with. >_<

Someday someone will write a canon reunion, just like Winick eventually wrote a canon grief story. But it might be a while, lol. Until then, I'm glad you enjoyed my little take!
