Naruto. I love this series to bits, and every chapter that comes out just reminds me time and time again why I do. And why I love the characters in it. Each character's strength is so different from each others, and well, I just wanted to say that SHIKAMARU KICKS SO MUCH ASSI never really comment on Naruto chapters anymore, because mostly my

On the plus side, I do still read Aishuu's interpretation of him at MP, so I feel the caring he has for Yukimura coming through loudly. I also followed one of your links to the image of him stopping Sanada from striking Renji. That was a great pic.
Btw, I think if I ever do like anyone at Rikkai, it'll be Renji. The flashbacks of him with Inui made him a person I could relate to. I think that's also why I like Ohtori and Shishido more than anyone else at Hyotei. The anime gave them a nice back story to fill out their characters.
Not of the Unbeatable Rikkai Champions, but of the individuals and the players and the teenage boys behind it.
And that's exactly what's missing in the anime. I asked people earlier where all the Sanada/Yukimura warm and fuzzies come from, too, since I know a lot of people who like them. Nobody answered me on that, and so I still don't have any strong feelings on them.
I think to remotely like Kirihara, one has to overlook what he did to Tachibana and (tried to do) to Ryoma
I'll admit that's hard for me to do. I still haven't come completely to terms with what Atobe did to Tezuka. I'm getting better with that, though. Reading AtoJi fics has helped a lot.
Compared to the rest of his team, he's an ickle kid
I haven't seen that side of him yet, but I'd be willing to take that into consideration. Rivals are so much more interesting when they have both "good" and "bad" traits. Akutsu and Atobe are good examples. I never, ever thought I'd like Akutsu. Ever. ^___^
Thanks for taking the time to reply. I'll try to keep those things in mind when I watch the next episode.

Yanagi is my second most favorite member of Rikkai after Marui. My love for Marui almost rivals my love for Gakuto. Almost, but not quite, as Gakuto has me wrapped around his little fingers. The D2 match in the manga is why I love Marui so much, and those bits of him we see in the manga which I loved isn't present in the anime.

My love for Rikkai isn't pairing centered at all, and I have no love lost for Sanada/Yukimura, so I'm probably the wrong person to talk about this. But in fairness, the incredible loyalty the members have towards Yukimura is staggering. This championship isn't so much important to them, as it is important to them for Yukimura.
Given the matches in the manga, the thing that drew me most into loving this team was the fact that they're not just another cocky championship team with incredible players with natural talent. It's skill and talent that they all work hard for. They do not, by all means, underestimate their opponent (although I can't say the same for Kirihara in this ongoing S2 match), but will give each map their all with the best of their abilities. They're not champions just because. This is something that shines through in the Doubles 2 match, and the reason why I love Marui so much.
I'll admit that's hard for me to do.
I understand this is something that is hard for a lot of people to do, which is exactly why I don't expect people to like Kirihara. And which is why I cannot do anything but get antsy whenever I read anti-Kirihara sentiments, because I understand where people are coming from, I just don't agree with it.
And going a bit off track, but do you listen to BL dramas? Or just Drama CDs even if they're not BL?

It's not a case of me not wanting to read the manga. I just don't have it. I had been getting them from FET, but I only have up to 207. I'm not sure how much time I'd have to read them, although I really should print out some to read on my flight to Japan.
I have a feeling that I'll appreciate Rikkai after the matches are over. I didn't start loving Hyotei until way after I first saw them. Sometimes, it just takes me a while to appreciate the rival teams. I'm still trying to develop an appreciation for Fudomine.

I think that's one of the things that could get me to like them more. I wish there was more of that in the anime.

I sort of feel that way about Fuji, so I know how you feel. I do plan to try to be a bit more objective when I watch the next raw episode, and if nothing else, I'll think before I comment. Knowing that I do have some friends who like Kirihara a lot makes me want to make sure I try to see things from their POV. Not that I think you're telling me to do that. It's just how I am.

I try to. I download a lot of them, mostly for listening to "some day". I wish I could make fandom a full-time job. I did download the one you put up this weekend. Is it okay if I say thank you here? I don't listen to regular drama CDs as much. I mostly look for anything with Ishida Akira, Toshihiko Seki and Megumi Ogata. Those three will probably always be my favorite seiyuu.
*hugs*

I think I'm over my being antsy about the whole Kirihara bit. I've solved this by ignoring majority of the fandom even more than I already am. Sometimes I stumble upon something by mistake, and well, I'm just tired of all the negative vibes I get from this fandom. So I'm just going to share my love on my LJ when I feel like it and to hell with anything else.
I try not to let it get to me, because I know there are characters I dislike which other people love. (Fuji and Tezuka being prime examples.) And I'm sure someone out there wants to kill me and skin me and leave me to the wolves whenever I say something negative about them even in passing (w/c I think I tend to do a lot, especially with Tezuka).
I still owe you a package for all those candies you sent me. #_# I was thinking of burning a couple of CD dramas for you while I was at it. And since I've got tons, I needed to know your seiyuu preferences. ^^

I should have replied sooner, but I keep forgetting that I have this reply in my other email account. I had to use it when my regular email went down for a couple days.
I would really like to see them, if it's not too much trouble. I'm leaving for Japan on Sunday, so I'm going to have some extended reading time. I don't sleep well on planes...
You don't need to send me anything for the candies. I love doing stuff like that. But, if you really do want to send me anything, I'd love to see Last Exile. I tried to watch it on TV, but the dub is horrible. I seem to recall you saying that you liked that series. If you have that on CD, I'd really appreciate it!

Hee~! Last Exile along with Juuni Kokki must be my most pimped out series yet. Don't remember anymore how many copies of this series' I've sent out to various people. Would love to send the Last Exile CDs to you! ^__^

I would love to see more of Last Exile. The first time I saw part of it was at a con, and then when Jay showed me the first episode, I remembered it. I thought the battles were wonderful. I tend to like anything that looks Napoleonic. Must explain why I liked Treize in GW, too. I just don't think I could take the dubbed version. Bad dubs can really keep me from enjoying an anime. I'd rather give Last Exile a fair chance, especially since I think I'll probably like it.
Thanks again!

I love Last Exile. *_* Last Exile was one of those series which I followed religiously from beginning to end. Other than Juuni Kokki, there hasn't been any other anime series that has made me do this. (Heatguy J, but that was licensed too quickly.)
