On Friday, I:
-Helped touch-up paint the office, clean a lot of things, get rid of old project materials, and had fun chatting with my coworkers.
- Got laid off
-Got stuck in traffic in a rainstorm for almost 90 minutes immediately after being laid off
-Got some food supplies for the Writer's Group
-Sobbed all over Nathan's shirt when he got home. He changed it before the writer's group started and I washed my face.
Friday Night, I
-I had my writer's group, which went very well. I'm so glad my friend Ed made me restart this!
-Afterwards, I hung out with
onceupon and
mightywombat, got drunk and had pleasant conversation.
Saturday
-Weeded the yard
-Went for a long bike ride on the Sanlando Trail with Nathan. On it we saw a tiny dead mole being dragged by an enormous beetle, a squirrel building a nest, a boxer (the dog breed), and a lady walking a floofy Pomeranian. The trail's paved and incredibly shady, so it's a nice relaxing kind of bike ride, perfect for bike-wussies like me.
-Renewed our lease
-Did a kettlebell workout
-Made deep-fried tofu wontons to take to our friends' house that night.
-Hung out at Kate and Ashley's with a lot of other people. I watched UFC for the first time and while it was interesting, I don't see myself regularly watching or following it.
Sunday, I:
-Emailed people
-Caught up on LJ
-Went to the Farmer's Market
-Ate at Eden Salads and Wraps, which I suspect is owned by Organic Christians but just don't care any more
-Saw Harold and Kumar: Escape from Guantanamo Bay at the cheap theater, which was only $2.50 a ticket! The movie was not as funny as the first one, although it was a lot more daring in the things it poked fun at: The Department of Homeland Security, racial profiling, institutional racism, torture at Guantanamo, the Klan, and ole Bush himself are targeted. And the theater was suprisingly full, there were at least thirty people in there and half of them were middle aged.
Keeping myself busy is a good way to stave off the terrible frustration of losing my job. I almost applied for unemployment today but decided to call the HR lady first, then took a 90 minute nap instead. Although I busied myself with laundry and household chores, read some articles on self-promotion as a writer and finding an agent, so I didn't totally jerk off today. I also wrote quite a bit, I have 55 pages of the sci-fi comedy chick-lit story. It's probably the loosest, silliest thing I've ever written and it's going really well thus far.
