I had a facepalm moment with Google the other day. One of those times when you think, "Now why didn't I see this coming?"
On my Volkswagen, there are hoses running from the supercharger to the intercooler. These are made of a hard rubber/plastic material, and have a tendency to crack, thus leaking, and significantly reducing performance. As a result, a common modification is to replace them with aluminium pipes. I thought this might be a good idea, so I decided to google them for the best price. My initial efforts were less than successful, because searching for "Volkswagen G60 aluminum (or aluminium) intercooler replacement hoses" returned a wide assortment of results, mostly irrelevant. So I looked up the common name for these hoses. Since the rubber pipes crack easily, they are referred to as "crack pipes".
I think you can imagine all the wonderful results I got when I tried searching for "aluminum crack pipes". I probably have the government after me now...
