I can't possibly comment on books written in 2007 since I don't often read new books. For me this will be about the various books I read this year. Also I will be giving top 3. possibly more. possibly less

1. Best book of 2007

#1 The Human Stain by Philip Roth
dug dug and DUG. Not only did I love it, but I continue to think about it and relate to it months and months after reading it and that is what pushes it above all the other fantastic books I read this year.

#2 The Vanity of Dulouz/Dharma Bums/On the Road by Jack Kerouac.
I can lump these because theyre all part of the same story... the Kerouac Story. On the Road I've read once before, but the other two were new.

#3The Kite Runner by Khaled Hosseini
(Hosseini had a book come out this year, A Thousand Splendid Suns which I have and am sure is FANTASTIC. so that could maybe be the best book to come out this year, though I haven't read it yet)

2. Worst book of 2007

#1 The Water Children by Wendy McLeod
Or production of it was good... but did the text ever suck.

#2 Monday Mourning by Kathy Reichs
I read this because I like Bones. It was alright... not my kind of book.. too airport novelly

#3 Meno by Plato
Plato pissed me off with this one.

3. Book you anticipated the most that lived up to your expectations

#1. Suite Francaise by Irene Nemirovsky

4. Book you anticipated the most that completely failed
#1 Meno by Plato

5. Guilty Pleasure book you read in 2007

#1 Monday Mourning by Kathy Reichs
yup.

6. Most scholarly book you read in 2007

#1 The Making of a Counter Culture by Theodore Rosak
speeeectacular. dug.

#2 The Republic by Plato
better than Meno

#3 The Art of Loving Erich Fromm
love the Fromm

7. Book you STILL haven't read as of 2007
Shake Hands With the Devil by Roméo Dallaire
