I don't know what's with me and anime/manga. Every once in a while i get really obsessed with an anime/manga and I just can't stop watching material about it.
In the late 90's : My main obsession was DBZ, but I guess i was not the only one, everyone that watches shonen probably watched DBZ at some point right?. I used to buy all types or merchandise and other junk, especially stuff that had Vegeta and Trunks in it.
Between 2001-2002, i obsessed with Yu-gi-oh and the trading card game. This mainly happened because i found Yami's English voice quite sexy *weird since I never like American dubs*
Then in 2003 or was it 2004?, I found Bleach. I really loved Bleach since I first read it. Well, i guess i should say that I loved Rukia since I first saw her lol. To me Rukia was completely different to any manga heroine, and i think that's what i liked about her. First of all, she had black hair (something so rare among manga girls, if you know what i mean), not only that, but she was petite, her buddy wasn't over-sized *coughbreastcough*, and she actually kicked butt.
In general, i found Ichigo and Rukia's interaction appealing to me from that day on , i loved Bleach so much. I have to say, though, when the whole thing about Hueco Mundo started, my obsession for Bleach decreased significantly. Thank goodness that Ulquihime happened otherwise i could have lost all interest in Bleach ( i hated the whole idea about saving Orihime, but when Ulqui appeared, my whole perseption of the arc changed).
D. Gray-man became my obsession from some time too; i think it would still be my obsession if the manga hadn't been on hiatus for so long and if the manga hadn't become monthly instead of weekly as it used to be. I like that this manga was fast paced, and that most of the main characters had some type of dark/sad background that made them who they are now. I have to admit that the beginning was kinda slow, but once all main exorcists appeared, the story move quickly.
In 2010, however, I found myself obsessed with Hetalia. I watched the anime in 2009, and even though I found it was a cool series and i liked it, my obsession started while watching fan videos and character CDs. The anime covered some of the main characters but left some other characters out. Fan videos and character CDs, on the other hand, show them in real life events, their interactions with one another, and even more historical events.
After watching the anime, i remember that my fav characters were England, Spain, and Germany, but after knowing more about the characters, especially the ones that were left out, my favs became Prussia, England and America. I can't believe that the anime showed so little of Prussia; he's so awesome and hilarious, yet the anime shows nothing of his real personality, nor that he's Germany's brother >__<.
