Varied Tellings by the Conservatory Orchestra

I would rather thought that this is also one of the best concert that I've attended so far.

I would rather thought that Rachmaninov's Theme of Variations by Paginni that was played by Albert Tiu is excellent  with a much deeper voice and meaning to all variations that he played (I was inspired now...so the next thing that I want to conquer right after my Diploma would be that piece...which goes to say, the thought of going ahead to the LTCL after ATCL is still there...).

I would rather thought that the William Tell Overture is a far cry/difference from what we've played before and it brought back memories as me being the 4th cellist and Kenneth's 3rd cellist of the Cello Quintet in the opening of the Overture.

Overall, this concert has never failed to amaze me again, just like the concert on Friday . The minute Albert Tiu plays that, my eyes are already glued to his fingers, working out on the ivory keys of the Steinway while trying to figure out the fingerings. My fingers are moving too...gosh. Too bad, I don't have the score with me...Otherwise, I would have refer to the score (Oh no... I think I'm beginning to follow those typical ones that will bring scores to the concert and make a reference...).

I would rather thought that the Variations that was arranged by Rachmaninov as his last piece, remained true to Paginni's original composition, which is on the 24 Caprices on the Violin. The originality is so creepily same as the orginal composer himself that I'm listening to the original. Rachmaninov will always be Rachmaninov.. That's the reason why I love his concerto/short pieces so much.

It's expected that he would play Rachmaninov's Vocalise Op. 19 though... Who doesn't play that? It's Rachmaninov himself! Then again, I should've brought my cello score along to make references. Like it would make any difference since he plays the piece on the piano... but this is the piece that I'm playing on my cello so in anyways, it's still a good idea. =P

However, Schubert.. is always Schubert. We are not so amazed by his compositions anyway and there Kenneth goes again, nodding his head off while me trying to struggle to keep myself awake. Though I've heard before on Symphony 92.4FM, still I wasn't that amazed either. With all the repetitions in different keys and almost following the Classical-era style, for a moment, I disliked Schubert's compositions due to the 'BORING' factor.  Well, not all... I like his Impromptus but never some of his compositions. I bet even Iris will agree with me.

Okay, Schubert will come up from his graveyard and will drag me to his graveyard together with him, buried alive for criticising his works. Just like Mozart... =.=!

The encore by Johann Strauss is really cute, I thought. And the Orchestra present members that played Schubert's Symphony No. 5 earlier on performed without the conductor. Wow... and boy, do they synchronized very well together!

Watched the concert with Godwin and Kenneth. This is the first time that they've entered the Conservatory Hall and it is MY first time seated at the Balcony level. The seat that I've sat gave me a nice pleasant view of the entire Orchestra with the Steinway and Albert Tiu's fingers working out on the piano. Thus, for the entire first half of the Concert, I've been concentrating none but just his fingers alone. Heh.

Had supper with these two guys later on after the concert and we seriously made a lifetime moment at MacDonalds, upon which, the trio of us swore secretly that we won't want to have another incident like that anymore. I shall not elaborate; it's quite an embarrasing situation though.

Oh well... This concert, has never fail to disappoint me in any ways. I went back home, a happy woman that I've watched two great concerts in just a span of 2 days of the week.

=)

And my nose is like a having a tap on the running water...It's never nice to get caught in the chill for consecutive of 2 days and then the flow comes out from the nostrils like non-stop!! I'm just keeping my fingers crossed and hoped that I don't get fever the next thing. Otherwise, I would drag Kenneth in and he will be sick non-stop for one week...again. =|
