Is there anything that I've left out?
*ponders...*
Not that I recall of... Oh yes! Shucks.. I need to contact two more persons tomorrow and I think.. I'm done.
At least, I THINK, I'm going to be done for.
=X
Argh... It's confirmed: Chronic back pains. No slipped disc out from my spinal cord, nothing. Thank goodness for that. I wasn't hoping for any slipped disc, otherwise.... the next time you see me, I would be walking so damn slowly that everyone who is walking alongside me, has to walk within my pace.
Good what... Be more "Zen" on yourself. Slow down, take a look around you and savour the quiet moment.
I'm taking a proper rest... but that doesn't mean that I shouldn't stop whatever I'm doing. In fact, later in the afternoon, I got to attend a quartet rehearsal and then a gathering to attend, organized by my dearest senior, Siying. Whee.. =)
Attended 'Strings of Love' concert by Zhu Lin & Xu Zhong with Yingying, both SCO sectional principal players in their own rights. Not that bad... Interesting & enjoyable programme. Surprised that Shostakovich is one of the concert items... because that composer.. is super abstract kind, with so many atonal, diminished chords. But it's OK. At least, it's outstanding from the rest of the usual recital items.
I felt so bad. Thought the concert will start at 8pm but when I got there, it took me at least 10 minutes to sink in the fact that the concert HAS already STARTED at 7.30pm!! I kept apologising to Yingying because this is the first time that I've made such an error. But luckily, we got there just in time to catch Xu Zhong in the next round of the recital.
I'm definitely looking forward to their next recital (if they have, that is) and see what they have to offer next. I would love to actually hear a commissioned piece meant for Er-Hu and Cello because this is a unique mixture of different tone colours and texture from both instruments. I've heard so many compositions of violin & cello (more like double concertos...) but never truly hear Er-Hu with Cello. Hopefully, there will be one.
Caught up with Yingying with a conversation that shocks me. So much things that had happened to her within a short span of 2 days after the minute she 'touch-down' Singapore from Hongkong. It just makes both of us realize how great importance to have our a thorough health check every 6 months... and to REALLY treasure our loved ones around us.
My prayers will be on her...
Right. The next concert to be watched with a group of my Ensemble friends are 'Inextinguishable' by SSO on the 30th August. One of the highlights of the concert is a Double Concerto by Violin & Cello and it's a composition that meant for Asian Premiere. What's more.. Lan Shui, one of my favourite orchestra conductors, will be conducting! Tee-hee...
And I'm watching with Kenneth, Ying Hao, Cheryl and Charmaine. Great!
This year definitely a year of concert-goings for me. The next thing I knew.. 2nd Sun Festival is coming and I'm so dying to watch Dame Kiri Te Kanawa performing live!
And I thought I saw.. Los Angeles Philharmonic Orchestra and UBS Verbier Festival Orchestra... that will be coming too... Wonder how the tickets will be like.. =X
Right. Off to print Mozart's scores and I'm off to bed-rest!
