Well, with a little boy it was bound to happen sooner or later. We have our first broken bone. We just got back from the ER a while ago, and Deacon has a broken finger. He was running across Mom's floor and slipped & fell. The way he fell, he landed on his stomach and was sliding right for the couch so he put his hand out to stop himself - and ended up breaking his middle finger right above his knuckle when he slammed into the couch hand first. He's doing ok, but it does hurt him. They've got it splinted & wrapped and they want him to follow up with the ortho doctors. They said it's not a horrible break and should heal fine, but it's right above his growth line on his knuckle so they want us to follow up with ortho just to make sure it should heal clean. He got to see the x-rays which he thought was very cool... but it's going to be a long 4-6 weeks because he's already whining about the splint. LOL. Of course, being our little ornery thing - his main concern? Will he still be able to open birthday presents with a broken finger??? I assured him that he would. He did make the nurses laugh though. When they came back and told us that it was indeed broken... He says "Oh no. That's not good that I broke my finger. How will we get me a new one? I don't think we can unless we take one from someone else." LOL. It took some explaining to get him to understand that he doesn't NEED a new one, and that this one will get better. He just thought like with most things, if they break, we throw them out and get a new one.
*** Hi to anyone out there who still reads this. I know I'm scarce and not the best friend; I haven't been around much at all ... but we are still alive here in boring old Lebanon and hopefully soon I'll find some time to update with all that's been going on in our lives.
