Open range
I guess that I should feel flattered. *shrugs* though, I gotta say.. this ticks me off just a wee bit, and makes me feel a bit slighted.
You see.. I know for a FACT that this picture was not taken in Wyoming. I didn't take this particular picture, but...
I guess that it was around 1990, or 91 when my father said.. "Hey, Peg... Come here, and help me load this into the van." We were swiping an old oven that some local Oatmanite had left out behind a building. I asked.. "Why are we doing this? I'm sure it doesn't work" and his response was.. "Shhhh.. and help me" so, I did.
We took our newly aquired oven (range) out about 2 miles from Oatman to an "Open Range" sign, which is when we unloaded it, and placed it under a sign, and opened the door.
Shortly after that he got real sick, and went downhill for 6 months and died. This was the last prank that he and I played together. My mom hissed "Oh you two" and then finally laughed about it.. It made the local Bullhead City Bee newspaper under the caption "Kitchen Comedian", and someone sent a copy of that paper to Jay Leno, and he had it on his "headlines"- At that time, he was still just filling in for Carson.
That picture was taken on old Rt 66, about 2 miles outside of Oatman AZ
