This was made in Adobe Photoshop 7.0. Includes selective coloring, channel mixer, and exclusion.
>>
1. Duplicate your base, set it to SCREEN 96%. You may want to change the settings based on how light/dark your image is.
2. Add some color to Nate's face. These settings will bring out a lot of red. Go to Layer >> New Adjustment Layer >> Selective Color:
REDS
Cyan: -100
Yellow: 100
YELLOWS
Yellow: -30
WHITES
Cyan: 45
Yellow: -14
Black: -14
NEUTRALS
Cyan: -27
Yellow: 21
BLACKS
Black: 5
You just want a little color added, so set the opacity to 28%.
3. Now for a bluish tint. Go to Layer >> New Adjustment Layer >> Channel Mixer:
RED
Red: 105
Green: -29
GREEN
Red: -9
Green: 104
Blue: 19

Green: 54
Blue: 100
Set the opacity to 100%.
4. Make a new layer and fill it with #1D1000. Set it to EXCLUSION 100%.
5. Take your base, duplicate it, and drag it to the top, ABOVE the exclusion layer. Set that to SOFT LIGHT 57%. Again, this changes depending on how light/dark your image is.
6. One last selective coloring layer. This is a long one!

7. To sharpen I usually go all the way to the bottom of my layer palette, duplicate my base, go to Filter >> Sharpen >> Sharpen, and set that to around 40%, or whatever looks sharp enough.
If the colors come out too orange or red, lower the opacity of your selective coloring layers. If it turns out too blue, lower your channel mixer layer, or raise the selective coloring to add red.
And that's all! Please play around with these settings. Change things, take steps out, add some new ones. Do not copy this tutorial step by step. It would REALLY suck if a whole bunch of icons that looked just like mine started popping up. D:
