Okay, so I like slash, like McShep, so maybe I'm biased against het shipping here. So yeah, maybe take these comments with a grain or twelve of salt...
Why the hell do the Atlantis writers insist on shipping? Haven't they figured out yet that they totally suck at it? So far we've been given Carson and Cadman which was like a negative 473 on a believability scale of 1 to 10. And now they give us Rodney and Katie, which is just as bad.
Guys! YOU SUCK AT WRITING ROMANCE, or love or even lust for the most part. Stick to campy goth vampires.
Okay, so not all of it is the writers fault, because somewhere in there the Casting Director decided to hire the actresses who play Cadman and Katie. Seriously, you would have to look long and hard for two actresses who have less chemistry with their on screen beaus than those two do. Does anyone think that the whole Jack / Sam thing in SG-1 would have worked if it hadn't been for the chemistry between RDA and AT?
And then there's the decision of TPTB to keep flogging the dead horses when the bodies are stinking up the plot lines. So okay, they got rid of Cadman, thank god. And if we're lucky they are going to do the same with Katie because if they go through with having Rodney marry her it will just be totally the biggest disaster of all time, and don't they know that YOU DON"T MARRY OFF THE MAIN CAST!
Oh, and then there's the whole Ronon Keller thing that is supposedly going to happen.
Seriously guys, give it a rest. You tried. You're bad at it. Go back to writing space opera.
