The Art of Trolling... or Art Trolling.
So, I generally don't like trolling very much. However, there is one time I am okay with it... and that is when people that want free art are rude about it. I will draw for them anyway, but I will draw something stupid/horrible and see what happens.
Sometimes you can teach them the wonders of 'please' and 'thank you' and they come out better from it... or, they have a meltdown hissy-fit and are very entertaining.
I just went through the DA thread and got a butt-ton of screencaps of things that happened. Because of the way DA threads things, some things may be out of order. I don't really understand the forum threading since I have barely ever been in there. But I will link to the thread itself so you can see all of it if you want.
So... I did pretty much start this, but I think it is too funny not to share. GIANT screenies!

Okay, so how this started was actually on FAF. There was a thread called "GIVE ME FREE ART but only if you're a great artist kthnxbai" which has now been deleted. It was a rant on how many of the people in the free art areas of sites act. The ones that don't give any details of their requests, but tell artists to post samples before he 'picks' someone to do his request. Or that if their art isn't good enough, he doesn't want a picture from them. Or the ones that are rude in their wording, they don't say please or thank you... Things like that.
Someone mentioned that DA has a free/points art forum called 'Projects.' I never really visited the DA forum before, so I didn't know that. I like looking for rude art requesters when I want to draw bad art. So I went there. I saw this MLP thread. Could be interesting, I thought. I went in and sure enough, the OP was one of those guys.
That was his OP.
- Doesn't tell anyone what the character he wants done looks like,
- Wants to be able to pick an artist as though this were a commission,
- Doesn't say please or thank you.
A pony wearing lingerie? lol So I decided to draw it... only because of the above reasons, it wasn't going to be a great picture.
The link I posted goes here. It isn't the best art, but it isn't horrible.
He doesn't like it though. The link he posts goes to this picture by Kloudmutt (nsfw: nude anthro pony). I estimate this artist could charge at least $20 to $30 for that artwork.
(this is where things are kind of out of order... but it doesn't matter too much. Just know that the ruder he got, the more 'free art' I made him... which I will post eventually).
OP had been getting mad and Inciatus gave him some blunt advice. I like how getting art that is both what he wants and of good quality is a waste of money/points to him. I think my advice for him is pretty good. I mean, when I draw free art for (nice) people then all I expect and want is a nice reaction and a thank-you. Anyway, the link I posted showing a freebie I did for a polite requester was this one. (others that i did later for example are here and here)
Another thread spurring from that one comment. 'I block your mouth!' is a favorite threat of his.

In response to his comments on my first picture, I did these. Links to here and because he wanted something more anthro, here. The third thing I linked to was on FA because of nudity (which sparked a whole new thing)... here (nsfw nude pony).

It is true that I have drawn in that derpy style for more than 75 people and they all loved their pics.
Teal makes another picture... OP doesn't take it well.

I don't want to wait years for porn! The police haven't showed up to get me so I guess it is legal for me to get custom porn!
I draw him a whole bunch of pictures! ... Here is a link to them. ... But he didn't like these ones either. This is when he starts screaming "Remove them!" on like... every comment/picture I've posted.
This time I draw him his character in the same pose as the picture he seems to desperate to recreate... only, with his attitude and budget, he gets the free version. here (i've covered the mature bits) He still doesn't like it of course.

Still doesn't understand that an artist can get in trouble for providing porn to minors.
At this point, Inciatus was PMing me to tell me that he was telling OP that if he apologized to me, I would remove the art (what, no I wouldn't) so then I saw this... Insincerity!
The best end to a thread. He locked it. Although, I would have preferred it if he had learned that being polite will have a better chance at getting the things you want than being a rude dickbag has. I do think that the advice I did give him was good though. I even told my boss about this the day after it happened. She thought the situation (and all the pictures) were funny... and she really liked me "Please and thank you are the best way to pay an artist that is doing free art." line.
It escalated pretty quick. He is at least looking to pay artists in points now ... but seems to think the minimum one artist posted (250p) is expensive (it is what, $3?) even her highest price is reasonable for their art (2500p = $31).
That is something I don't like about points. Many people seem to think that like... 100 points is a lot. I saw someone in that same thread saying "Does 8 points sound fair?" for his art... dude, 8 points is TEN CENTS. Still, the OP asked that artist for free art.
