Okay, onto my .. FIIIRST ENTRRRYYY.
----------
I feel guilty, as if I've cheated on my favourite band in the world. Radiohead is, of course, the best alternative rock band of the 90s and now. But I've been so drawn to Muse for a bit over a month now. I just can't stop listening to them, I love everything about them. Their lyrics are brilliant. They obviously really have been formally taught about music. The singer sounds like a slightly deeper Thom Yorke. Their music is easier to listen to and understand than Radiohead's.

My Gods of Rock, forgive me, for I have sinned against thee. But you may need to initiate another member into the pantheon!

Anthony Kiedis (RHCP), Raine Maida (OLP), Scott Weiland (STP), Thom Yorke (Radiohead)

Anyway. Here are my favourite selections of Muse's lyrics. I'll try to explain why I love the particular one so much.

Space Dementia
Album: Origin of Symmetry
H ate is the one for me
It gives me all I need
And helps me co-exist with the chill

You make me sick because I adore you so
I love all the dirty tricks
And twisted games you play on me

Space dementia in your eyes
Peace will arise and tear us apart
And make us meaningless again

You’ll make us want to die
I'd cut your name in my heart
We’ll destroy this world for you
I know you want me to feel your pain

Space dementia in your eyes
And Venus will arise and tear us apart
And make us meaningless again

The idea of love being destructive has crossed into my mind a thousand times over the past 5 years. I've written it into my short stories, expressed it through art, and found significant pieces of music, like this one, to express it. I once drew something, in my inking phase of art, where a man had stabbed a woman in the chest. As she lay at his feet, bleeding to death, he knelt down, looking at the blood. The caption was "Sometimes I love you so much I need to kill you." Pretty morbid stuff, but I was like 15.

Space Dementia would be my OC Harlequinn's theme song, if I were to give her one. She inspires a mad infatuation in people, that causes the deconstruction of many communities over the years. One character in the stories Harle is in actually dies because of her insanity-driven love for Harlequinn. She just stops bothering to live, because she realises she can never have what she needs. <-- SO off-topic.

Bliss
Album: Origin of Symmetry
Everything about you is how I wanna be
Your freedom comes naturally
Everything about you resonates happiness
Now I won't settle for less

Give me all the peace and joy in your mind

Everything about you pains my envying
Your soul can't hate anything
Everything about you is so easy to love
They’re watching you from above

Give me all the peace and joy in your mind
I want the peace and joy in your mind
Give me the peace and joy in your mind

Everything about you resonates happiness
Now I won't settle for less

Give me all the peace and joy in your mind
I want the peace and joy in your mind
Give me the peace and joy in your mind

This song is just plain gorgeous. The intro is a synth arpeggio that multiplies onto itself, then all of a sudden, a loud distorted guitar plays a riff above the arpeggio. They mix perfectly. It's quite majestic. The lyrics are so personal to me, for reasons I can't quite explain. But I'll try anyway.

I can see who I'll be when I'm older, once I've shaken off the remainding angst and disapproval of the world and the people in it. Once I allow myself to open up to the beauty of everything fully, I will be fulfilled to a much, much greater extent. So, this song resonates as me looking at my own future.

Uno
Album: Showbiz
This means nothing to me
'Cause you are nothing to me
And it means nothing to me
That you blew this away

'Cause you could have been number one
If you only found the time
And you could have ruled the whole world
If you had the chance

You could have been number one
And you could have ruled the whole world
And we could have had so much fun
But you blew it away

You're still nothing to me
And this is nothing to me
And you don't know what you've done
But I'll give you a clue

You could have been number one
If you only had the chance
And you could have ruled the whole world
If you had the time

You could have been number one
And you could have ruled the whole world
And we could have had so much fun
But you blew it away

You could have been number one
And you could have ruled the whole world
And we could have had so much fun
But you blew it away

Uno is like, the essential "I hate my ex ____" song. I wish I could show up, outside of Tom's house, and play this at top volume. Mm, vengeance with great guitars.

Well. This concludes my amazing first entry. If you actually read my musical analogies, then, I applaud you. And I will make secksing with you at a later date.
