Continued professional tinkering

Aug 16, 2007 08:07

In my job, we have to have so many 'CPD points' (Continued professional development) every year, to ensure we're up to date with 'knowledge'. It's mostly all the Sarbannes-Oxley and International Standards stuff that these young whipper-snappers are messing with. It's kind of annoying because there was nothing wrong with the UK framework in the first place, but they have to keep tinkering. It'll drop off if you keep playing with it y'know.

Anyway - at the moment it's all about the training. Two days in Manchester this week and then Mon/Tues in Watford next week on an "integrated update" with KPMG Germany. KPMG England and KPMG Germany are merging to form the single largest accounting practice anywhere in the world. It's a 'super-practice': kinda like a 'super-group' and with just as many syncrhonised bleach-blonde highlighted 21 year old boys in black suits. Although less singing.
