For those of you who are unaware, I am working at a technology camp this summer (the same one Matt worked at last year) and its going okay.

Last session I had a grand total of four campers, one of which was the camp secretary's daughter so my job was pretty easy - also, all my campers were girls, which, are easier to deal with most of the time. Someone once told me that the second a boy is born they start trying to kill themselves. As they grow older, these methods become more complex: playing with lit fire works, bull riding, bar fights, pissing off their Multimedia counselor, etc.

Little girls learn from an early age that the way to solve their problems is through subterfuge, and passive aggressive campaigns. Men who lie well and women who do dangerous things have a lot of experience with the opposite sex.

Anyway, the point is, this session, I have eight campers, all of them boys except for one half-girl half-shark (this camper had only one thing written on her camper report for last session: "Really Bitter"). and it is definitely harder to do my job. I have one camper who asks fifty millions questions a second and always questions what we're doing next, and another who is convinced if he is only allowed to play dodgeball with the 7 year olds he would totally "dominate". Of course he would dominate, not only is he four years older, he's also about two feet and fifty pounds heavier. I would think the lack of challenge would keep him away but I'm constantly reminding him to not go near the little kids playing dodgeball.

I am currently sitting in my basement with most of the female counselors watching chick flicks. and playing MASH. Good times.
