In the eye of the storm. (I guess)

So much stuff's been happening and flying by that I'm surprised I'm so calm about it all for the most part. Auntie's family's been in California for almost two weeks now, and Tayler's had her own news to share aside from how she and everyone else is adjusting to living in a new state. Uncle Boyet drove back and arrived here yesterday to pick up some of their stuff from their old house and drive it back to their Cali house. Kind of want to visit or call him, but I'd probably be a bother while he's packing things. Sis is still up in Alaska for two or so months seeing moose, hating the sun that never sets, and frolicking with cute little stuffed dall sheep. Dad's over in the Philippines doing business and having fun with the friends and family. People repeatedly asking where either of these family members are or how they're doing only now made me realize I'm pretty much by myself in rainy, humid Florida. I'm managing fine at my Tita Modie and Tito Howie's place, though, so I think when the time comes and I'm really living on my own I can handle it all right.

Someone in our prayer group died, someone else is happily pregnant with her second child, and a subgroup of us are still psyched over the Boston Celtics absolutely pwning the Los Angeles Lakers. DORKS Summer classes are done in two weeks and there are a bunch of projects I need to be working on for class, my future, etc. etc. Holy crap time goes by so fast.

From hanachan01. Basically, post a lyrics from your favorite song and I'll give you five questions.
1. Who is the guy in your icon, and why do you like him?

This here hottie is Nishimura Shinya, the lead vocalist and guitarist for my favorite J-band Snowkel. Aside from loving the band's music, they all wear glasses and call themselves the "glasses band." But Nishimura seems like the most adorkable of all, and I love dorky guys. It also surprises me how different his speaking and singing voices are. He talks kind of low and guttural, but his singing is a lot clearer and higher. I've also had my share of creepy stalker fangirl dreams about him, so...yeahhh.

2. What was your introduction to anime?
The DiCk dub of Sailormoon first got me into anime. I used to pretend to be the Sailor Scouts with my friends all the time, and we'd even act out episodes or musical bits. XD I was the Sailormars, even though I'm probably more of a Mercury personality-wise. From there I got into Pokemon, Digimon, and most of the anime on the afternoon Toonami block, especially Tenchi Muyou! I don't think my story's all that different from other anime fans. Sailormoon was the anime gateway drug for lots of people.

3. Who is your favorite basketball player?
I really like the Phoenix Suns' Steve Nash. He's got incredible talent and in-game intellect. He's a player who really knows what to do with the ball and I think inspires his teammates to play better and with more energy when he's on fire. He has a slight tendency to misread players and turn the ball over passing, but I think that's because he's a creative point guard who can come up with different ways to move the ball. I'd love for him to win a championship MVP one day.

Of course, I also love Shaquille O'Neal because...he's Shaq. He's like a huge little kid and just a lot of fun to watch when he's playing well. Even though he's past his prime and probably going to retire in a few years, he's still a really powerful force on the court, and back when he was playing with the Lakers I'd say he was probably the best center of that time. Appearing in music videos for dorky songs like "How I Beat Shaq" and being animated in eps. of Static Shock help, too. XD I also have an old Kazaam shirt I wear in the house. LAWLS.

4. What is your favorite episode of "Teen Titans"?
"Haunted" is probably one of the most well-written and suspenseful episodes of the whole series. It showed probably more than even the first season finale how Robin's strongest asset, his drive and determination, can also be his biggest weakness. In the end, there was no villain other than his own obsession hurting and breaking him down to near madness. The episode was a great Slade/Robin slashy psychological thrill to watch overall. I also have this shred of a theory that Slade's daughter Ravager was the one who set off the hallucinogenic dust that skewed Robin's senses as an act of revenge for the Titans killing her father. She was never introduced in the animated series, but Teen Titans GO! writer J. Torres said if DC gave them more issues to write, they would've introduced Ravager in the comic spin-off. So bwa-haha it's possible!

5. I assume your username is after Robin from "Teen Titans." Why is he your favorite character?
Among the Titans, I feel like the series did the best fleshing out his character and exploring the different aspects of his personality. He's both an intelligent, determined hero and a self-destructive perfectionist when he allows his goals to consume him. I also really like that he's the leader despite relying only on his acrobatic and deductive talents to fight crime, unlike the rest of the Titans who have superpowers or enhancements. Even though he's this great hero, he's also a huge dork with cheesy taunts and in romantic situations. (It took the whole series for him and Starfire to finally hook up, geez! XD)

Oh. And he's hot. I ish shallow fangirl.

anime, no future even any future?, crazy life carp, meme stuffies, sis, tay-face, dad, basketballin', nishimura shinya is my lovah, robin, teen titans
