Oh man, you've got to see this!
Okay, let me preface this by saving a few things...
1. I am in absolutely NO way a professional writer. I do it for fun. And pretty much for me, though I am glad that some of you actually (a) take the time to read it and (b) happen to like it.
2. I'm not even a great writer. I didn't study writing, I just up and started doing it one day because I saw something between two characters in my head that I wanted to see wrtitten down.
3. I pretty much wing it all the time and don't have much of a clue on plot development, suspense, etc. I just write down what I see in my head.
Are we clear on this so far?
Okay now, let me say something else.
1. I absolutely don't mind when someone doesn't like my writing. If they don't like it, hey, whatever, everyone has their own options. I'm not aiming to please everyone...as long as I'm happy with it, that's all I really care about. Besides, there's a lot of stuff out there that I read and I'm like...holy shit this is crap. But I can never bring myself to leave a scathing review. I just can't. I just close the story and move on.
2. I don't even mind when someone totally slams my work. If they feel the need to write me a review and tell me they totally hate my writing, whatever. Then I ususally check their profile, see what they've written and have flagged as a favorite story to see and learn what my story is lacking compared to the others.
BUT, I what I don't like is a person who, (since I checked their fan-fiction profile) hasn't written one story, doesn't have one favorite author or story, belongs to no communities and basically seems to have just joined TODAY 8/05, to bascially rip me a new asshole. Like out of ALL the, what? 310,926 (that's the total as of this second) Harry Potter fan fictions on fanfiction.net, this person happened to stumble onto MY stories...no, not even my stories...a collection of drabbles and one stupid little quick nothing that I posted the other day and decided they needed to register and totally rip me a new one?
Maybe posting a rant here instead of emailing this person back is the cowards way out, but I really don't want to start an e-mail war with someone. And maybe I'm making this person out to be too important by even posting a rant about her (at least I think it's a her, part of her registered name is Aimee).
Anyway, you tell me if I'm over-reacting? Maybe I'm just hurting because I've never gotten THIS bad of a review before? I don't know.
