Bleu and I went to the library on... Thursday? Wednesday? Something like that. I got three books & have finished two.
South of the Border, West of the Sun - Haruki Murakami - well, it's fucking Murakami, you know I loved that. (
aekastar, I owe you SO SO SO MUCH for recommending him to me a frillion years ago. Thank you. Seriously.)
The Smithsonian Institution - Gore Vidal - Clever, very clever. Concept piece, not any kind of serious mucking-about with alternate universes and time travel and nuclear fission. I'd have liked more reality in the sciencey bits, but it wasn't really about that. Almost a love story, in its way.
Now there's an enormous green wristbreaker compendium of Alexander Pushkin's prose staring mockingly at me. It knows I failed with Dostoyevsky. I'm too postmodern for my own good, although I try to fix that. Key word being try.
Tell me about books I should read. No, your list is not too long. Tell me ALL OF THEM.
