14ga wire? Pfft.

kynmore had an idea:  We Should Make Chainmail, because How Hard Can It Be?

He looked up ways to make the stuff online - it's not hard to find - but refused to order tools or 14ga steel wire.  He claimed that it would be easily found here, and besides he wanted to make chainmail now and waiting is bad and blah blah instant gratification yadda hardware stores etc.

As one can assume, this is not the case.  Because that would be way too easy.

Our first thought: wire.  Just normal wire.  Can't be too difficult.  Our second thought, after the first hardware store:  the kind of wiring they make chain-link fences out of.  Our third thought, at the third hardware store:  that shit's too thick, what about buying some insulated electrical wire and stripping it?  (My thought then:  Okay, you can strip the stuff.  I can just go to Strange Blades if I want mail.  They're pros.)

A very, very, stupidly long time later -- said stupid long time involved me following like a mindless lemming cradling a can of S7F7 through hardware aisles and stuff -- R. got himself ten feet of some kind of double-wrapped wire with, I believe, copper in.  He then stripped it, and would be futzing with it further had he not needed to be a driver on a trip to the store.

And me?  I'm leaving that shit alone.  This was so not my idea.

But I did get spray glue out of the deal.
