No. I don't think so. I tries to google those names but nothing came up. And they don't ring a bell at the moment.

I remember that the first book starts at the main character's birth and at some point in his toddler age he gets swallowed by a gastropod and held captive, although he is never in danger. At some point, an old teleporter or "flinger" comes and becomes his mentor and helps him with his talent and helps him become a flinger for the government. Instead of using space ships, these 'flingers' transport people and cargo to specific places in the solar system and later in the galaxy. I have some of the books in my storage, but it would take weeks to go through all of the boxes of books that I have and more energy than I have at the moment.

Thanks for trying!

Could it be The Journeys of McGill Feighan? The first book is Caverns, but I can't find a good plot description.

Caverns (The Journeys of Mcgill Feighan, No. 1)

Happy Birthday, Mistress Huette! I know it's a day early, but it's going to be nuts over by our place, so I thought I'd send it today instead! Many hugs to you now and always on your birthday!

Mistress Huette, I know we've had our moments, and I know that you were around a long time, and knew a lot.

For anyone who stumbles upon this, I hope they can remember the force of nature that you were. Stubborn, ornery, creative, knowledgeable... I want people to remember you for how you were, not just how they saw.

Rest in piece, Huette... The world is a slightly darker place without you.
