The good news is that my right thumb hurts badly enough to ignore the pain in my left thumb.

The bad news is that OW, that really fucking hurts.

Left thumb, the first knuckle got whacked with a buckler. Not that big a deal -- it happens, whatever, my left hand gets whacked on a semi-regular basis. I don't tend to guard it as well ; I'm more willing to give it up ( both in a ' give it up during a fight to take an advantage elsewhere' sense as well as a ' doesn't matter as much if I bruise that hand' ).

So what if that thumb won't really bend anymore? An ice pack, some tylenol, and some bruise balm and it'll be fine.

Right thumb, got hit hard, right on the nailbed, with no padding ( we were using wasters, and neither of us realized we were too tired to be trying something new ). It bloomed almost immediately, which is always bad -- standard, run-of-the-mill fencing bruises can take up to a week to bloom on me, which is why I come home from Gulf Wars every year looking like an abuse patient. This one turned black and blue before I even managed to put the sword down. So yeah -- ow. Like, four hours later and still throbbing, despite a double-dose of Tylenol and  half the duration of Shakespeare In Love spent soaking in a some epsom salt. It's currently a shade that looks like it would make a rather cool nail polish color, all molted blue and green and black. And I'm debating if I should grab some nail polish and paint over it for real, or just leave it to be and let work ask questions tomorrow.

Sigh. Luckily one of the medical-field fighters was out tonight, so I asked him to double-check it and let me know any signs I need to go to a doctor.

Ow. Time for more ice. =D
