The blazer felt all too familiar, like it was just yesterday sitting there in the back of the classroom, staring at the green space of the chalkboard, the numbers and letters blurring together.
Navy blue. Dark navy blue you could get lost in. There was cream colored lining on the edges, it shimmered like one of her silk dresses she wore to a party once. The texture under her fingertips was no different than it was countless years ago. Like when you go through the harsh cold of the winter, remembering the warm weather in your mind. And when it finally arrives, you feel at peace that it's just how you remembered it.
At this moment, it didn't make her feel at peace like she thought it would. It made her feel older, made her feel like she had lived a thousand lives before. This displeased her, she didn't see herself as old. She was still able to run a prison, be active, and not be bed-ridden by disease or dead face down on the ground.
There was still that twinged nostalgia in the back of her mind.
A bitter “damnit” was all she could say.
