CJ and I believe in spanking. We were spanked, we turned out okay (well, I did at least), and we only do it when we deem it necessary, not as a retaliation tactic.
I'm a member of CafeMom, and I'm in a group called Sick and Twisted Sisters. To be in this group, you have to apply and give a reason why you deserve the title. Anyway, this post came from my group:
I just had to share a conversation I had...I think you all will appreciate it.
I'm talking to an old friend on the phone, long time no see, catching up, yada yada... when my crotch dropping butts in on the conversation. This is a big pet peeve of mine, and she knows it. So when she did it YET AGAIN, I lost my temper and swatted her on her leg, hard enough to surprise her but not hard enough to hurt. She shut up immediately and I told her to leave the room until I was off the phone. When I returned to my conversation this is what happened:
Friend = Stupid PC bitch, AKA "PC"
Me = Supreme Goddess of the world, don't fuck with me, AKA "Me"
PC: "Did I just hear you hit her?"
Me: "Yeah, I swatted her leg."
PC: "I can't believe you hit your child!!!"
Me: "...are you kidding?"
PC: "No! I never hit my children. Never!"
Me: "So you let them run rampant, doing whatever they want?"
PC: "No, I establish rules and enforce them with Time Outs"
Me: "...And does it work?"
PC: "Well, sometimes it does and sometimes it doesn't, but at least I'm not crushing their souls by beating them!"
Me: "..."
PC: "Are you still there?"
Me: "Yeah. Let me ask you something. When you were growing up, what kind of discipline did you get?"
PC: "I got spanked."
Me: "So... what was good for you isn't good for your kids."
PC: "No, spanking is just wrong! Violence begets violence."
Me: "And using that logic, since you were spanked as a child, you're a violent person with no soul left to speak of because it was crushed years ago."
PC: "No, you're twisting this all around..."
Me: "I don't think I want to talk to a violent person. What if I say something to piss you off and you come after me? I think you should lose my number."
PC: "I'M NOT VIOLENT!"
Me: "You sure SOUND violent. Maybe you're right about the violence begets violence thing after all. Just how much did your parents spank you anyway, cause by the sound of your voice, I'm guessing it was a LOT."
PC: "Damnit, stop that! I. Am. Not. A. Violent. Person."
Me: "So then, you're wrong about spanking making kids violent."
PC: "..."
Me: "Come on, you can say it...you're wrong."
PC: "I hate you."
