In other news, I have been traveling round the state of Iowa taking depositions for a colleague's upcoming trial. I am once again amazed by the amount of planning that went into Iowa. All 99 counties in even rows, each county seat 25 miles from the next (so, you were always 12.5 miles away from a bigger town, or a day's drive), the straight roads, the square farms, and the town squares with the court houses in the center. I have also enjoyed a bit of the beautiful fall color, especially along the hilly bits and near the rivers and streams.
