Rocks and Sand

Hello, everyone. I thought I'd post something, just to prove that I am alive and have not completely turned my back on LJ...

I continue to be unpleasantly busy, but there's light at the end of the tunnel. Soon I should have time again to edit old photos and take new ones with my so far virginal digital SLR.

As for today's pictures, the first two were taken at a place called Little Sahara on South Australia's Kangaroo Island, which is remarkably devoid of kangaroos. It's another one of those places which will for ever live on in my memory as a Missed Opportunity, in that we had the most stupendously photogenic light for a couple of minutes and I missed it because I had run out of film in both of my cameras. I believe that was the moment I decided I did need a digital camera.

Anyhow, enough of that. This is Conan, running towards the light.

His and hers.

The next three were taken at the aptly named Remarkable Rocks, where I made yet another important photography discovery, namely that having an assistant can be very practical. You can't see it in the pictures, but there was a fierce wind when we were at the rocks, which kept blowing my hair in front of my lens. Thankfully, Conan was kind enough to hold my hair for me while I took these pictures. I have since added rubber bands to my standard photography equipment.

I love the looming birdness of the first photo. Yep, the man got between a hen and her egg and lived to tell the tale!

Colour pictures of both places to follow later.
