U Bein's bridge (part 1)

This is U Bein's bridge, near Amarapura, which itself is close to Mandalay, Burma's second-largest city. According to Lonely Planet, U Bein's bridge is the longest teak structure in the world. It's over two hundred years old and almost a mile long, and crosses a shallow lake in which the locals like to take their water buffalo out for a swim. It's a fairly rickety structure, but that's part of its charm.

See those trees in the background, to the left of the bridge? You know those. They're these trees.
