Abu Simbel, Egypt, 2004
This is pretty much the only decent shot I managed to get of Abu Simbel, a gorgeous place to visit but hard to take good pictures of. The statues on the outside are too big, busy and yellow to photograph well, while the stupendously beautiful murals inside are protected from over-eager shutterbugs by guards carrying guns (and rightly so). Also, for some stupid reason I neglected to scan two pictures which could have illustrated nicely just how big the place is. So, not counting the Nubian-slaves picture I posted earlier, this is the only decent picture of Abu Simbel I have, and it's far from flawless.
For a proper impression of the place, try to imagine what you see here in bright light yellow. Because that's the real colour of Abu Simbel. :-)
