AHAHAHA the kink meme has stolen and swallowed (and probably shat out, at this point) my bloody soul but I don't care because writing this stuff is so much FUN.
*sobs*
I don't recall which prompt started me on this one, but I failed to fulfill it, so I had a friend request this sort of thing on the meme, just so that I could post. Is that fail or what?
Anyway. Enjoy! ♥
First to Last
by mistr3ss Quickly
The first is a girl named Elise, a slender girl who smiles at him when his brother takes him out for coffee before he wins his first case and says yes when he asks her out, at his brother's urging. She kisses him on the cheek on the morning of his big win and on the lips, after they've finished celebrating for the evening. He holds her hand when they go for a walk after getting ice cream together, and that evening, she lets him see and taste and touch places she promises no other man has ever been allowed to see and taste and touch, before.
They part over angry words borne of the strain of the work he's learning to love and she's come to hate, and his brother is there to comfort him when he gives up feeling angry and sits down to cry.

The second is a girl named Adel, a stout girl with a quiet laugh and dimples in her cheeks who works somewhere in the Court House but always seems to have time to visit when Klavier's fighting a case. She brings him a sandwich, one day, and accepts his offer of coffee after her shift ends, her cheeks gone pink when he sucks mayonnaise off the tip of his pinky. One week later, they're no longer meeting for sandwiches or coffee, Kristoph sulkily allowing them their privacy by taking long walks in the evening.
It ends when another young man comes along, one with more time to devote to a sweet young woman and less of an older brother to please, and Klavier promises Kristoph that he doesn't mind at all.
~*~*~*~
The third is a girl named Lisbeth, a striking beauty who waits for him outside his flat with information that wins him the first case he's ever seriously feared losing, then sighs when he asks if there's any way for him to properly thank her. She bites him on the ear, after he's won the case and has time to meet her in a posh hotel to show his gratitude for her help, then sighs after he's spent himself and admits that, really, she's always been more interested in his brother.
He leaves without a word, and refuses to answer his brother's questions, slamming his bedroom door when he comes home, even though he knows well enough that it's no one's fault but his own.
~*~*~*~
After that, he stops counting, stops remembering names.
His brother notices and buys him a box of condoms, once, but doesn't say a word when Klavier takes the condoms and doesn't offer to pay him back.
~*~*~*~
It's not long after that everything changes.
There are still girls, more than before, even. Beautiful faces sweetened with concern, eyes bright with tears shed because he won't cry, himself. Hands and lips and breasts and comfort that he doesn't take, doesn't want.
Comfort too close to the past. Too close to him.
So he hides himself away, buries himself in his work. Hides in the paperwork and worthless cases that will never even make it to trial, the defense attorneys pushing hard for their clients to settle out of court, once they see his name listed under Prosecuting Attorney.

Which is precisely where Apollo finds him.
Seated at his desk, signing a form that he's read and forgotten already, brows furrowed and lips pursed, already dismissive by the time Apollo opens the door and enters, shy and hesitant even after the come in that answered his shy knocking. He waits for Klavier to notice him before approaching the prosecutor's desk, hands shaking as he holds up two cups of hot cocoa, tongue tripping as he says I got one for you, um, if you'd like to maybe take a break?
He's sweet and naïve enough to think Klavier's smile is sincere. Young and innocent enough to light up when Klavier says yes and stands and asks if he'd like to sit together on the sofa while they drink.
Klavier gets two sips before Apollo says it.
I'm so sorry about your brother.
Klavier takes a third sip and says that justice was served.
He gets a fourth sip, almost a fifth, before Apollo answers.
I'm not sorry about that. I'm sorry about your brother.
A sixth sip. Seventh.
Apollo takes the cup away from him, sets it and his own on the coffee table. Puts his arms around Klavier and keeps them there while Klavier breaks down and cries.
~*~*~*~
After that, there are none. Nothing. No one.
His brother doesn't know. Wouldn't approve.
Apollo's sweet smile greets him every morning, even after Kristoph is no longer around to care.
Also, as always, posted
here for the lulz.
