Ah, another fic for laurazel, because her art inspires me in a way nothing else seems to, these days. Seriously, I sit here and try to write other things, then go surfing through her work and BAM, fic happens

Even before I opened the art, I knew which picture(s) of hers you had used as a reference. Isn't she great? *sigh*
And once again, beautiful job on your part. How am I supposed to compete with this? (I had started my own little tribute series of tales for 'Zel, but this is way beyond my work, damn you.) However, I will take what comfort I can from the fact that your work and mine is very different. ;)

BTW - now I know I'm tired, I finally figured out your nickname on here... Shakespeare fan by any chance?

Haha, that's a testament to how wonderful Zel is, seriously. I love that doujin page, it's my favorite of all her doujinshi work, easily. The second-to-last panel especially ... tempted to make an icon of it.
I didn't really mean to make fic of her work like this, not really, but her stuff's just so inspirational, it doesn't surprise me at all that it's got others wanting to write. She's just that good.
And it's good that we write differently! That's the beauty of fandom, lots of different voices and perspectives.
YES, my name's from Shakespeare! You so get a gold star for knowing that. Most people think I'm named for the 80s porn star ... er no. Not so much. ^_~

Oh I shall have to check out those links! Thanks for giving them to me!
"Normal is the setting on a dishwasher" ... that's hilarious. I will have to tell my husband that when he wakes ... he's the dishwasher around here! ^_~

Hey hon.
I wanted to drop you a line and let you know that I haven't yet read your fiction, not because I don't want to read, but because this is the end of fall term for me, so I'm squirreled with papers and what-have-you. I will read as soon as break starts.
Didn't want you to think I was snubbing you or anything! ♥
Re: *grins evilly*samurai_koNovember 3 2006, 14:13:53 UTC
Not a problem, I understand completely. (And I do understand the whole 'swamped' thing, NaNo is absorbing my life, and now on top of that, I have to get ready to move! AAGGGGHHH!
Re: *grins evilly*mistr3ssquicklyNovember 3 2006, 15:13:27 UTC
Ugh indeed. I'm trying to do my NaNo, but I'm also working on writing my thesis and building my defense, so I'm pretty sure I won't be winning this year. But that's okay, I won last year. ^^
I've got two more S7 up, if you want to read them: Regret and Scary Stories. Might make you smile. ^_~

For a completely different take on 'Zel' inspired storytelling, check out:

(I need to get cracking on Chapter Four, where dear Roji shows up, much to Seiyo's delight...)
Not quite as... Zel-ish as your own work, but unique nonetheless!
And I know, I'm too much of a geek for my own good. But hey, normal is the setting on a dishwasher.

I want to put that saying ("Normal is the setting on a dishwasher") on a t-shirt, and one of these days I will.
