Well, July has come and gone.  With it, we are that much closer to boots on the ground at Fort Polk.  Also brings me that much closer to the end of my initial contract.  As the deployment goes past the half way mark, rumors fly like bullets around here.  But as it stands, Afghanistan is a good option in the future.  Afghanistan, perhaps the harshest spot in the world, remote and barren, the only equipment that you have is whatever you can hump up Mount Mother Fucker.  And a fitting test and end to my Army career.  So as it stands, 1 year from now I may very well be in the beginings of movement to Afghanistan, to fight in another war that has taken second stage to the Obama-McCain fight going on, to the rising tide of high gas prices.  But, I am a Soldier, a loyal Soldier.  I do what my commander in chief tells me to do, regardless of the fact if I like him or not.  That is what is required, expected of my rank and the mark of a true Soldier.  So if they tell me to go fight again, I will gladly ruck up, move out, and draw fire.

At the same token, I am looking forward to redeployment, a few schools I would like to go to, SFAS beinging the first.  I am also wondering what 2009 has in store for me, in terms of getting out and using that sweet sweet GI Bill to start college before I become a 32 year old in college gawking and hanging out with 18 year old females.  Not that there is anything wrong with that, well, there is, but thats neither here nor there.  Most of my leaders and buddies are telling me to get the fuck out, but I have a feeling that life is just begining for me in the Army.  Not sure what it is.  But if I have survived this long, God must have something in store for me.  Afghanistan or College.  A very challenging choice with two distinct and wide reaching effects.

So I pose this to you, the 1 person who reads this anymore, who wants to party in September if I come back to the states?
