Reading

I have been trying to read more creative non-fiction. A few months ago I read "The Liars' Club" by Mary Karr. I really loved it. It is funny, sad, and very self aware. So last week when I found her newer book "Cherry" at the used bookstore I had to buy it. Unfortunately it was only okay. This book seems less focused and more self-indulgent than "Liars' Club". Karr also switched between first-person narrative to third-person narrative in a way that I found intolerable.

I was really excited to read this book, and it was fairly disappointing. But it does point out several things that I need to avoid in my own writing. And I guess that is one of the important things about reading.
