"When are they going to start firing?" Ryosuke asked and turned to the older boy by his side. He shivered slightly because of the cold night wind that made its way through the thin fabric of his white sweatshirt. He cursed himself for not taking a jacket, or at least a scarf with him when Daiki came to drag him out from the comfortable warmness of his and Keito's hotel room. As much as he wanted to be there with the older boy, he just wished he could return to the warmness of the hotel as soon as possible instead of standing out there on a crowded beach in the middle of the winter. The wind was even rougher and colder when it blew from the sea.

He also kind of regretted saying "yes" when Daiki had asked him if he would be okay with wearing only the sweatshirt, adding that it would be cold outside, especially at night.

Daiki glanced at him, but turned his face back to meet with the cold, dark night sky. Ryosuke could make out a silvery smoke swirling in the air from where the elder exhaled a deep sigh.

"Soon, I think," Daiki mumbled a reply and looked around with a bit worried face, and then digging his phone out from his jeans' pocket. The cellphone's bright screen reflected a bluish glow on his face. "They should have started already. The time's already a few minutes past midnight."

Ryosuke looked down at his hands and tried to glench them into fists; his fingers barely functioned anymore because of the cold. It sure was colder than what it seemed. It was a wonder why there was no snow at all in this weather...

He watched the silver smoke that came through his own lips vanish into nothing, disappearing into the freezing darkness. Bringing his hands up to his mouth, Ryosuke blew some hot air into his cupped palms and rubbed them against each other, trying his best to warm them up. Why hadn't he even brought mittens? Even they would have helped his situation a lot. This was some way to spend the New Year's eve.

He found himself looking down at Daiki's hands that were securely stuffed into his jacket's pockets. A small pout made its way onto his lips, and his brows furrowed the littlest bit. Daiki's black, seemingly thick jacket looked far too warm for his liking. He glanced at the elder's face from under his brows, and seeing him facing the opposite direction, a mischievous smile curved on the other side of his lips.

He took a few small sideways steps towards the older boy, who happened to turn to look at him when he was right by his side. Daiki gave him a questioning look. As a response Ryosuke raised his eyebrows in the way that asked "what?", and smiled a little. The elder kept his now suspicious gaze on him the whole time, until Ryosuke eventually took a step behind him, where his sight couldn't reach. He leaned over Daiki's shoulder until his mouth was close to his ear.

"I'm cold," he whispered and bit his lower lip, his breath hot on Daiki's ear. Slowly, he snaked his arms around the elder, bringing his hands to the front of his jacket. It was impossible for him to miss the way Daiki looked down when he started fiddling with the hem of his jacket. He could imagine a big question mark appearing above the older boy's head, which made a wider grin spread on his lips.

He moved on to fiddle with the hem of Daiki's shirt that he found from under the jacket's, and he lifted them up a little bit. The latter turned his head slightly towards his other shoulder, where Ryosuke's chin was hovering on... but the younger didn't give him a chance to ask what was he doing. Without a warning, only a smirk flashing on his face, he shoved his ice cold hands up inside the other's shirts. Daiki let out a loud, surprised yelp when Ryosuke's freezing fingers made contact with the warm, bare skin of his stomach. However, it fell on deaf ears, as at the very same time of Ryosuke's sudden attack, a bright red light flashed throughout the sky and the whole beach, followed by a loud detonation sound. It was tailed by green, then yellow and white. Loud cheering and amazed sighs flowed through the whole wide crowded beach, as hundreds of people celebrated the beginning of a new year.

Ryosuke no longer paid attention to the sky, as he had something else to warm his mind and body with. Not only were his hands warming up against Daiki's skin, but his whole body felt like burning as he blushed heavily. This beat the hotel room shared with Keito 10-0. He leaned his head against Daiki's and closed his eyes, the different colors of the fireworks glowing through his eyelids.

"What was that for?!" Daiki half hissed, half chuckled as he got over the shock, and placed his hands on top of Ryosuke's through the the layers of clothing in between. He drew his gaze up to the sky where the fireworks were painting the dark sky with different glowing colors over and over again, the colors reaching all the way to the back of the beach. He could feel the arms tighten around him, and Ryosuke's hot breath against his neck.

"I was cold."
