Skiing Madness!

So we skiied for x-mas... we drove up to Wisconsin saturday morning, to Sarah's mother's. Got there around 4ish maybe, then the rest showed back up and we had a relaxing evening. Then, Sunday morning we got up bright and early at the crack of 9, defrosted the roof-rack locks, put the downhill skis on the X, and headed up to Devil's Head. Sarah, Troels, Annica, and I got there before anyone else, so Sarah and I got our lift tickets and hit the slopes while Troels and Annica waited in the lodge. Eventually everybody showed up and we all continued skiing until about 4:45, at which point we came in and showered/changed in the rented Glacier Ridge Condo we were occupying - decent place and great price! We all, collectively, made our way to Green Acres - The Place For Steak (just north of Black Earth, WI on 78) where we feasted mightily on foodstuffs including delicious prime rib. Then we found our way back to the condo through the white and wintry snow, and collapsed into the living room for a brief evening of socializing and presents with Rick, Sue, Conrad, and Rachael, after which we all went to our respective rooms and froze or sweated, depending.

Monday we were up again at the vigorous hour of 9-ish and went out for a nice mid-day ski, packing it in around 2pm to make it back to the farm for dinner and to get ready for Church. After the very bizarre Harry Potter-themed sermon, there was some singing featuring me (surprise, I got inducted into the Mineral Point Church Choir temporarily) and a quick drive home for dessert - after which we drowsily departed for sleepy-land. This morning, after a leisurely start, Tine, Sarah and I made a grand loop of the upper fields on XC skis, meeting up with Bob and the enormous horse-dog Ralph near the end - whom we followed in. Showers were had, turkey was eaten (and rutabega, potatoes, stuffing, gravy, cranberry gelatin mold, brussels sprouts, topped all off with persimmon pudding with cream and home-roasted coffe ground in Jean-Margret's new burr grinder.)

All in all it was a good christmas break!

Now, who is ready to go skiing?!?!?!?
