To be fair, low-level subsonics DO cause people to dump themselves.
Near my hometown is an aerospace giant - Rocketdyne. Famous for being (ir)responsible for heavy groundwater contamination. On the days that the big boosters were tested, the new engineeers wonder why the senior employees all use the bathroom right before the test. It's shrugged off as coincidence.
The boosters are fired, and quite often the subsonics cause the unwary newbies to soil themselves quite liberally.
On your fantastic (as usual) work above - it seems that science fiction seems sadly optimistic. One thing I've always been disappointed in is my cataclysmic case of 'reverse future shock'. We should have flying cars, moon colonies, interplanetary launches, genetically engineered toothbrushii, true man-machine interface! Instead, we have AIBOS, the Patriot act, a computer industry controlled by an inept software developer, genetically engineered glow-in-the-dark fish, and the pinnacle of our virtual reality environments tend to be violent video games like Doom 3 and Half Life 2. Which I enjoy immensely.
Norman Schwarzkopf, in a TV special on "the appeal of Star Wars" once said that we were four years and a few billion dollars away from having working lightsaber technology. Unf.

I still want a flying car.
