Although I was in the camp that truly did think John Kerry would make a good president, I whole-heartedly agree with you. I think this will really make the Democrats get their shit together, and then maybe by the next election they will have a candidate that everyone thinks will do a good job.

the democrats have had 24 years to get their sh*t together. what makes you think this is some kind of magical moment? :)

Because if they don't, the country is going to go farther into the extreme right. I think this election was a big eye-opener for the Dems-- I live in Ohio and it's frightening to see how people would vote for an administration that caused so many job losses here. The democrats got their asses kicked, and against the odds, I think. To be blunt, they need to wake up or die off.

i certainly agree with your sentiment. however, the democrats haven't been the same since they were defeated in the 1980 election. that election was a wake up call, the 84' and'88 elections were wake up calls, the 2000 election was a wake up call, and this election was a wake up call. how many wake up calls does one need before they get the message?

(yeah, Bill won in '92 and '96, but would he have done so if perot hadn't also run in both races?)

Mine too, but I don't think a black man can win the presidency in this country.

You've got more faith than I do; I know a black man can't win the presidency in this country.

Some (not I) have argued that Bill Clinton was our first black president. Haha.
