STRANGEWAYS

Laphroaig? Oban?

Oban I like; Laphroig is just a touch too medicinal for me to choose to drink it often.

I've just been informed that Oban is currently unavailable in my area and there was some speculation that it's being used as part of a blend. A BLEND!!! While it doesn't qualify as a hanging offense, I'm sure some variety of wounding is called for here.

If you haven't tried Old Pultney yet, I highly recommend it. Good stuff.

Of all the great whiskey out there, those are your only options? Tsk, tsk.

Well, as an American, I prefer bourbon. Wild Turkey for every-day consumption, George Dickel for honored guests. I have dabbled in scotch and found some that I enjoy, but living here as I do, I'm stuck with what's readily available. Sure, I could drop $1300 (US) on a bottle of Johnny Walker, Blue Label, but if I was going to spend that much money on hooch, I'd go for the Louis Tre.

If I'm drinking bourbon, I'm looking for Knob Creek or the Master Distillers bottling of Jack Daniels.

Aye, but while I can enjoy JD or the like for a quick shot or three at the bar, there are infact many mid-level (price wise) Whiskeys with the flavoring and smoothness intended for sipping :)

I favor Woodford Reserve when I partake :)

I've had Woodford, and it's not bad. But I find that Wild Turkey and Dickel are smoother. Since I take my whiskey neat, this is simply a matter of taste, personal preference, if you will.

By the by, Mr. Ellis, I note that Glen Albyn, one of your preferences, has been out of production since 1983, which makes hard to find. I assume that the UK has better sources for rarities of this nature.
