Over a year since I posted in here, but maybe it is time to get started again. This is one of the few decent websites the army doesn't block at work, so I should probably make use of it. Germany is now behind me and I am stationed at Ft. Bragg. I belong to the 22nd Mobile Public Affairs Detachment, under US Forces Command. It seems like a pretty good gig so far. I was almost transferred to the 82nd airborne division this week, but my First Sergeant was able to talk them out of it.
Lots of opportunities to advance here. We are heading to Afghanistan in January of 2010, so before we head out I wil be doing lots of training, classes, and hopefully, getting promoted. I'll be the unit's armourer after January, and heading to airborne school in May/June. I finally have an actual promise that I will be going. It's about time.
We head to the National Training Center at Ft. Irwin in the Mojave Desert this February, so that should be a trip. I'll also be attending teh Warrior Leadership Course soon and I was told that as long as I continue to do what I'm doing right now, I'll be going to the promotion board in March. I was also told that I will be sent to the Advanced Electronic Journalism course at Ft. Meade, which would be great. That should happen sometime this summer.
Things are going ok right right now. Not a whole lot of friends here at Bragg, but at least I know SGT Harris from AFN. I think once I have a car that will allow me to get around and meet some new people. When you can't go anywhere, it limits your ability to mingle.
That's it for now. Just a quick update on what is going on. Hope everyone else is doing well. I'll be back home for Christmas. Well, Christmas eve through that Sunday. Feel free to give me a call. Take care.
