The Next Step
Well, I found out where I am heading after AIT. According to my AKO account I will be stationed at Ft. Irwin in California. I don't know which unit I will be with when I get there, but apparently I'll be attached to the 11th Armored Cavalry Regiment. Basically what happens there is that we train all other units for desert combat operations. The base is huge. It's bigger than Rhode Island, and midway between LA and Las Vegas.
I'm a little bit upset about being stationed there. I really wanted to go out of the country, but I guess Cali isn't so bad. Oh well, hopefully I'll eventually get deployed overseas. We'll see.
