"I mean, very easily. That would be it. One of us would be not here any more. We could just be carpet stains and we don't know how long until, not really. I mean, you sort of assume it'll be a while but it could be two years or twenty hours or twelve minutes."
"It's stupid. I'm not going to be angry at you any more. It's not worth it. I could die too, I mean, if he had been inside me-- well, I would have, wouldn't I? That was a very near-death experience."
"I don't want you to. But whatever time we have is best kept lovely, rather than wasted in spite. I know you will die. I just sort of figured out it could be any second rather than when you're old and tired and ready."
"I hope not. I hope I know you when there's salt in your hair and you have laugh lines good and proper. But in case I don't, I'm not going to be hurt any more."
"Just because I'm about to die, doesn't mean you can't be pissy, Jack."
Parker is vaguely amused at the idea.
"If you want salt and laugh lines, go make love to Andrei, go find some 50 year old man who wants a young boyfriend. I don't think I can give you that."
"Proactively, for all the other fucking stupid things that are invetably going to happen between us because neither of us are particularly sane nor good at survival. I got mugged and had my shoes stolen while you were gone, remember?"
He's curled up on the couch when Parker comes in, looking at that-place-on-the-carpet.
"H'lo."

"Come here a moment? Oh, you look very swish. I need to... would it be a good time to talk?"

He wastes no time pulling Parker down.

He leans in, and kisses him, obstinately.

He crouches down in front of Jack and then says, softly.
"Jack, you understand I'm going to die, right?"

He smiles at him, sadly.

"Andrei's in love with Fire. I can't go see him any more. And he doesn't want me anyways. Parker, you're missing the point."
