So....if anyone is wondering...i'm sure you guys all know by now...that i'm going to SYRACUSE UNIVERSITY in NEW YORK!!! WHAT WHAT?!?! i'm gonna become an east coaster...ooo...nice nice..
anyways...something else that's pretty exciting...
so...RIGHT when i get home today..i get a phone call from this guy in San Francisco..i couldn't really understand who he was...but anyways...he asked if I had gotten his emails..I said no..cuz i didn't..and he verified my email address. Then,...he was like...o..then..send me an email..here's my address...so..i turn my comp. on..he's still on the phone..and..i say..."so...what do you want me to write? just say 'hi'?.." and he's like..ooo...tell us whether you want to accept the award...i still have no idea what this guy is about..and...i'm like.."what award??" he says.."oo..we emailed you to notify you that you are a recipient of the scholarship..." Now...by this point i'm shaking and all ecstatic..so..of course..i'm like.."Yea! definately i'll accept the award..."...it's for $2,000 by the way..not too much..but good enough..
So I email him..he's still on the phone..he asks me a couple questions..and asks..."Are you available May 18?"
"I have school..and nothing else..i'm pretty much free..."
"well, if you're interested...are you willing to come to Washington D.C. on May 18..."
"Uhhh..."...i'm kinda confused...yet still ecstatic...
"We will cover all the expenses while you are here...airfare, lodging, everything."
"YEA! Definately I'll go..."
so..yea..im' all excited...i hang up with him...i call my mom..tell her...she says she'll go with me..cuz the guy said one parent can come with..so she's excited...then i give him a call back...and i tell him my mom and I will be going to D.C. he says Great!...and he said he'll call me on Monday to get things finalized with flight info. and stuff like that...
Then..he's like.."ooo..you're the journalism guy...are you mostly print?"
"Yea...but i've done broadcasting during the summer.."
"have you done public speaking.."
"umm..not really but i can work on it..."
"We'll work with you..we want one or two of the students to speak.."
"Ok..."
So...yea..that was a long entry..
basically..i'm going to Washington D.C. to receive my award...have a national press conference...go to the white house..meeting? with Labor Secretary Elaine Chao? Cho? and yea...so..that's some good stuff!!
