I decided to add memory to my iBook. Found a good deal on some good ram. It arrived yesterday. I'd done my homework. I'd looked at users in support groups who'd added memory to their machines. I had a number of opinions on the best way to go about it. I even had the owners manual. It didn't surprise me that none of them were exactly right for my machine, though technically the owner's guide was pretty straight forward.
But something, some step seems to be left out no matter who writes the instructions. So when I opened up the case and it didn't look exactly like the pictures I'd seen I didn't panic. None of the instructions I'd read were going to work. I sat down, looked around a bit. Mac machines are darned intuitive. I saw a space where it just looked like the chip should go and sure enough it popped right in. Put it back together, which took about 2 minutes, fired it up and everything was gold. Machine recognized the memory. It seemed happy, I was happy, all was right.
I'll never go back to Windows machines, God willing. I'll never go back!
Never!
