So the final 10 episodes of Battlestar Galactica begin airing tonight. Be warned, that if you are planning on letting your DVR record it first, tonight's episode is slated to run 3½ minutes over time - so set your DVR or VCR (LOL! just kidding!) accordingly.
I had this strange feeling yesterday that my package from Propworks had arrived, and indeed it did. You see, starting tomorrow, Propworks will be holding a
2-day auction in Pasadena, selling off any and all things BSG. From costumes to props, set pieces to full-sized vehicles. Everything from a clipboard to a clock, hallway signage, banners, pre-production art and blueprints... anything leftover after the show. The idea for the auction supposedly comes from the producers who wanted all these things to get directly into the hands of the fans themselves, instead of locking them away in storage or selling to a few wealthy collectors. For this reason, you can actually bid in the auction
via their website.
Propworks has also already begun putting many,
many SWEET BSG props up for sale on eBay. Oh... so tempting, these glorious one-of-a-kind items. Which was why, a couple weeks ago, I ordered the
print version of the Auction Catalog - a beautiful book of 319 color pages - which not only shows fantastic, large clear photos of all 800 lots that are up for auction, but it also includes detailed descriptions and even interviews with the production crew.
And, if you don't want to shell out the 35 cubits, er bucks for the print catalog, you can - how cool is this? -
download a PDF of the whole book for free. Believe me, it is well-worth it.
Personally I ordered the print version because I think it's going to prove to be, not only a collectible in itself, but the most detailed documentation of the show's production that will probably ever be released.
Oh, also check out
this link to see many of the items up for auction beginning tomorrow - and remember the series continues tonight!
