003 // if everything could ever be this real forever
My name is Phoenix Wright.
I have been here for nearly a year now, and I have learned many things. I have made many friends, and I have lost almost as many. I've learned many things while being here, most of all that I've learned how fragile life is- even my own.
When I first came here, I took the name "Truth", and that's the name that everyone knows me by. I have to wonder why we're stripped of our names and why it takes so much for us to get them back. What is so important about our memories other than they make us who we are and why...why does this place have to take them from us?
We've been though a lot together, and I can honestly say that I can't think of many other people that I would rather have gone through all of it with. You've all been right here by my side- some of you longer than others, and I just want to thank you for that. Thank you for being there for me when things got tough, and for being there for Justice and Kazahana when I died.
It still sounds so strange to write out those words, like they're some sort of fact that hasn't and won't ever register with me. It's just surreal, that death and life both end and start in the same place here, and that they happen so frequently. It's almost like we don't have a chance to mourn before someone is back, and we have to carry on life as normal. ...if they do come back, that is. There have been plenty of people that we have lost, and I know that with each passing day it might get easier to live without them, but it will never change the impression they left on us while they were here. They will always be remembered.
It's up to us to live here, to find out the secrets that this place seems so determined to hide, and discover what else there is to learn about each other. It's only through friendship that we can overcome the obstacles this place throws at us and find out the answer to that eternal question-
"Why are we here?"
