SF pride '08

This was my first SF pride, but after about 10 parades in Chicago (and one in NYC thanks to railguy), I wasn't feeling super jazzed about the whole thing this year. Thursday and Friday night, we had the chorus concerts, but like the pride weekend chorus concerts in Chicago, they were pretty small affairs with so much else going on around town. On Saturday, David and I walked around the pridefest in Civic Center for a little while, then I headed to the Embarcadero to help the chorus finish building our float for the parade. After that, I met back up with David and we went to the Pink Party on castro street for an hour or two. By 9:00, we decided we'd had enough and came home. On the Saturday of what's probably the biggest party weekend of the year, we were in bed and asleep by 11:30. On Sunday we got up and lounged around a bit, then headed out for the day. For the past few months, I'd been taking David through all the Sex and the City DVDs, and on our planes to and from NYC last week, we finished the series. We greatly accelerated the pace of our watching so we'd be able to see the movie before it left theaters. So today, we fought our way through the pride revelers and went to the AMC on Van Ness to see the movie. I loved it and may go back again sometime this week on my own. After the movie, I reported to the second day of the pridefest for my shift at the chorus merchandise booth. I was supposed to be there from 4:00-6:00, but with the dropping temps and escalating winds, we closed up shop early at 5:30 since all the crowds were dissipating anyway. Now I'm home and need to get ready for my friends from Chicago who will be visiting next weekend!
