Well, I've finally got an internet connection of my very own. Now I've finally got it working I've popped along to Wikipedia to look up "Worzel Gummidge" and was very surprised to see that the series was so popular in New Zealand, they actually flew Jon Pertwee over there to film an ill-fated "Worzel Gummidge Down Under" as far as I know, this has never been released on DVD or VHS. I must write to my cousin at TVNZ to track down this holy grail!
Since I last posted, the following things have happened...
1. I finally got that job at the Globe I've been pursuing for the last three years! I'm ever so happy! I managed to get it by working voluntarily, then getting in as a part-timer on weekends. It meant I was working a seven-day week (with my old graphic design job mon-fri) for six months. So no acting or partying for me! Still, it has been more than worth it with my new full-time post there, assisting with their exhibition... And I get weekends back! I'll try and organise some groups to come and see all the wonderful plays they're putting on this season.
2. I moved house, from my beloved North London, and into the spooky and enchanted Spitalfields... My new home is on a street off Brick Lane and boasts a ukulele shop (Duke of Uke!) and a site where Jack the Ripper commited dark unspeakable deeds (this makes it very spooky to walk home down late at night!).
3. I've been in a new play, but only for one scene. The director of "Design for Living" did a version of Shakespeare's "Merchant of Venice" and I popped in as the Duke of Venice during the climactic Trial scene. I was only on stage for 5 minutes and my back was to the audience the whole time! Nevertheless, it was lovely to see
cloudgirl,
maxinemogadon,
madbird,
specialknives,
evilbarbastelle, Jamie, Arri, Jim and my darling
licklepickle in the audience!
4. My lodger, the Legendary Mark Westerby from New Zealand has left to take up a flashy job back in Aotearoa. A staunch sceptic, he now swears he has seen at least 3 ghosts around my flat and area. This has given rise to me trying to adopt the tag "Ghosts of Hanbury Street" as a sort of "Highbury Massive" style name for my flat. However my local city-farm has just had a brand-new litter of goats born for the spring, so I've instead opted for the far more accurate "Goats of Hanbury Street". I think it has a nice ring to it!
Come and vist me and the Goats anytime!
