December sees Leeds host the first ever industrial punk festival, as ten of the UK’s best underground bands arrive in West Yorkshire for a weekend of uncompromising beats and harsh guitars.
Amalgamation ’07 is the first national festival for the burgeoning underground movement of ‘industrial’ or ‘future’ punk, which mixes the guitar noise and snotty attitude of punk with the technology and media savvy of modern techno and dance music, taking its cue from legendary bands such as Killing Joke, Nine Inch Nails, The Clash and Pop Will Eat Itself. Combining audiences from the goth, industrial, punk and indie scenes, ‘futurepunk’ bands have spent the past ten years blowing a hole in the wall of the underground scene in the UK - and Amalgamation finally sees industrial punk coming into its own.
Amalgamation has the ten best bands on the UK futurepunk scene, from the noise assault of the seminal Leech Woman, the melodic inventiveness and goth crossover of Deathboy, the hardline politics of Action Directe to the dark electro of the soon to be massive Uberbyte - and all for the bargain price of £10 for advance weekend tickets. Day tickets are also available but the wise are forewarned not to hang about and to get their's soon!
What's more, all paying punters at Amalgamation will be given free entry into Transmission, the dark alternative clubnight and flagship of The Subculture, straight after the bands end on Saturday 8th December, which means the more hardcore of you can party until 3am for no extra charge!
